Having strong moral character is a foreign trait to most, but it is a choice people face every day. Thomas Jefferson once said, "In matters of fashion swim with the tide; in matters of character stand like a rock." How people meet life's challenges can build character or destroy it. It is the simple thing one wants to stand up for but doesn't because of fear or peer pressure.
One's belief on certain subjects should not change because of friends or peers. Beliefs should stay on a straight and narrow path without being misled. Having a strong character is to be the one person to stand up at a party and walk away because of dangerous or inappropriate things that are being done there. Character is the will power to just say, "No!" and not flirt with the concept but to see it and get the heck out. People with strong character do what is right and become stronger. These people are the trend setters, the doers, the people that do what they want to do. Individuals like that are the single most powerful people in the world, the ones that reach for dreams and don't stop at anything until the goal is within grasp.
The one who looks impossible in the eye and makes it possible has strong moral character and is to be admired. These are the ones that don't listen to outside influences that bring discouragement or diminish the chance for success. One should strive to build character even if one must stand alone.
